I am Kenneth Lengel II.
I started this blog because I want to share the truths of the Bible with other Christian teens. In this world that we live in today, it seems that some (if not most) pastors do not want to preach that certain sins are wrong out of fear of losing members at their church.
- Problem: We are only preaching on the big sins (for example, stealing, adultery, drinking, smoking, pornography).
- Question: Are standards not important anymore? (for example, modesty, music, TV, internet, movies).
- Sacrifice: If preachers were to preach on standards, they would lose church members. Smaller congregation, smaller offering. Pastors don’t want that, so they sacrifice standards for earthly wealth.
The Bible is very clear when it talks about this issue in Mathew 6:19-21:
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
I do not believe it is right to sacrifice standards for riches. Therefore, I am writing from the perspective of a concerned teenager, worried about the standards of the men who preach to us every Sunday. I do not wish to be disrespectful to pastors in any way; however I will take a stand for what I believe is right and wrong here on my blog. Luckily for me, I don’t have to worry about how much money gets in my offering plate. I know that I will get treasures in Heaven, and that it is much, much better than any amount of money I could get on earth.
